Let's talk Council services

This consultation has concluded.

Under the Local Government Act 2002 the Council has a duty of cultural, economic, environmental and social wellbeing for the community today and for the future. To help the Council achieve community wellbeing, seven Community Outcomes have been developed. The Community Outcomes are Connected, Prosperous, Secure and Healthy, Skilled, Sustainable, Together and Vibrant, and cover the full range of current community priorities in the district.

The Council's response to the Community Outcomes and the pursuit of wellbeing is set out in the Long Term Plan. The plan sets out what each Council service will deliver, the resources needed and how performance will be measured. The core services and activities delivered by the Council are: Cultural Services (libraries, museums and arts), Community Development, Recreation and Events, Parks, Roads, Solid Waste and Refuse Collection, Water and Wastewater Services, Regulatory Services (planning, licensing, building control and enforcement), Emergency Management and Business Continuity , Civic and Democracy Services (support for Council and elections) and Management of Investments and Funding.
